Of Irish origin, Monica FAGAN was born in Yorkshire, and came to France at the age of 18 with a scholarship from the City of Sheffield to study at the School of Fine Art in Rennes. After an interval of several years, she started painting again in 1978, and has since exhibited in Paris and the surrounding region, especially Barbizon.

Music is an important source of inspiration in many of her paintings. Masks, veils, mists and skies create an atmosphere full of mystery and symbolism which leads the spectator to seek further and attempt to discover the secret she has jealously concealed. Deeply marked with surrealism and onirism, she sets her technique to serve her endless imagination.
